Student Life
Advisory
Part of the personalized approach to education is delivered through its advisory program. This program ensures that each student is known well by at least one adult/staff member. Through daily (1/2 hour) advisory group meetings and individual conferences, the advisor program will provide a critical context for academic planning and support, home and school communications, team and community building, and reflection about the program. All students at AFP High will participate in Advisory for the entire four years they are enrolled. Students remain in their advisory: a small group (5-8) of students and an advisor/facilitator for all four years.
Advisories are responsible for:
- Records and daily attendance
- Announcements
- Academic planning and monitoring
- Career exploration and planning
- College planning
- Parent-teacher conferences
- Regular communication with parents
- Implementation of AFP High standards and expectations as outline in handbook
- Monitor daily readiness for school: dress code adherence, supplies, homework
